Becketts Farm Shop and Restaurant
Simon, our current Managing Director, is the third generation of Becketts to farm in Wythall. Simon’s grandfather, Albert, moved to Wythall from Shropshire in 1937 to take up the tenancy of a small farm at Forhill. He always took part in the community as well as being a farmer – he was for example a Founder Trustee of Wythall Community Centre – and so set a tradition which Becketts Farm follows to this day.
Simon’s father, Alan, expanded the family’s farming activities tremendously and it was he who initially developed Heath Farm, where Becketts Farm Shop and Restaurant is now situated. In 1960,the farm was turned into a limited company.
Becketts’ business progressed from dairying to large scale egg production but today, while still farming over 1,000 acres of cereals, it concentrates on connecting much more closely with people and enabling them to buy their food direct from a farm. Hence the continued development of the farm shop and restaurant and the refurbishment of derelict chicken houses into the commercial and industrial units for which there is so much demand in the district. In turn these developments bring new and congenial employment to Wythall.

Our family farm shop has grown tremendously over the years. Starting out as a small establishment selling eggs and other grocery essentials in the 1960’s, it has evolved over the years to become the award-winning farm shop we present to you today. Housing seven-speciality departments, we are committed to providing you with the freshest and finest local and quality produce, together with some enticing extras from further afield. The on-site bakery is not to be missed, producing fresh bread and cakes every morning so you get the freshest treats. Our butchers source the meat we sell from trusted suppliers. The Greengrocers hand-select all the produce on sale from surrounding farming communities across Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Birmingham.
We’re a one stop shop for all of your grocery shopping needs. Foodies love to browse for exciting treats and speciality ingredients. Not forgetting our enticing takeaway food options from our Sandwich and Hot Food Bars.
We have previously won a number of awards, including Family Business of the Year, Midlands Best Farm Shop and Best Independent Retailer in the region.

What can I say, except…. Whenever I was going on a Journey – if Becketts Farm Shop (especially The Bakery) was open, I would pop-in & get some snacks for on-the-way! If (on the odd occasion) I fancied one of their Cream Cake’s – I would always have to take one of their ‘Pineapple’ (Round) Cakes. I can’t remember what they’re called (& neither do I care), but they were always my ‘Go-To’, even if I did choose another one to go with it…… Maybe one day – I’ll get to call in again & see if they still do them…. 🙂 Anyway, if you get the chance to call in, go & get your Gums around their Fresh Cream Cakes…. (& tell them – Gazza sent you!)
